Ro is a singer/songwriter whose time has come. She has always loved to sing music that means something to her. Unfortunately, there aren't many mainstream opportunities to sing meaningful music. "Join a church choir!" her friends suggested. "I'm not going to join a church just for the choir!" asserted Ro. So the story begins.

In 1997, Ro was looking in the newspaper classified ads when "Jesus Christ Superstar Auditions" at with the Grosse Pointe Theatre jumped off the page. She wanted to play Mary of Magdalene since she saw the movie . . . decades ago. Auditions were 3 days away. When the phone rang with the stage manager on the other end, her heart stopped beating. "Would you like to be in the chorus?" "Chorus!?! . . . ok". Apparently, the director saw a 19 year old, blond hair, blue eyed virgin best suited for his version of "Superstar". After Ro swept away the shattered pieces of her ego, she had a great time on stage and received many compliments for her talent and pizzazz.

"Are you going to be in the next community theatre show?" was the question of the night. With a commissioned sales job (working day and night), there was little time left for a hobby. Ro thought about why she was willing to take the time for “Jesus Christ Superstar” and not any old boring musical. Well, the music is fun but there was something more. That was the same something Ro felt when she was in “Godspel” her junior year of high school.

Ah ha! Cool music with spiritual meaning was the key! So Ro went on a hunt to find cool music with a spiritual message. Sure, there are some songs on the radio that actually have a positive message but who has time to make a record?
Well, there was no local group Ro could join to participate in improving the world through song so she realized she had to do it herself. Ro got a repeating message in her head “Put an ad in the Phenomenews”. A couple years later, she did. “Spiritually minded people to write, compose, perform and record music to contribute to the consciousness evolution of mankind”. Over 6 months, 35 people signed up. 24 people said they would come to the meeting. 13 showed up. “Great idea!” everyone said. Everyone wanted to join but no one wanted to be in charge. “When are the gigs? Where do we rehearse?” echoed the members. They didn’t get the point of forming a new group. The group dissolved into nothingness but before that happened, Ro wrote her first song.

Out of an argument with one of the members came “Heaven On Earth”. It was done in a half hour. One of the guitarists said he would write some music to go along with the lyrics. It didn’t happen. Then one day, after being drugged up by the medical profession, the first edition of the music came out. It evolved from there.

Ro finally decided that if she wanted something done her way, she had to do it. Music is for fun. Music is a prayer. Music can change the mood and lift the spirit. Life is for living. Free will is to use freely to bring about one’s desires. But we all get stuck in the daily grind of doing what someone else thought we should. So where do we start to make the change? Within each one of us is Divinity. Divinity is creativity in action. We create our life circumstances whether we do it consciously or not. Ro is using this philosophy and way of life to create her own dream – the way only she can.

The music of Ro is more than a collection of inspired lyrics delivered with impassioned enthusiasm in a variety of styles. Ro’s unique perspective of the world, it’s religions, politics, cultures and life styles seeks similarities, embraces diversity and encourages unity of man kind.

Ro’s music is for everyone who feels “in but not of” mainstream society. Propriety and politeness are fine at the day job but Ro’s music is for after five. Her songs capture the full spectrum of the raw, honest emotion of life; from primal to divine; from rap and hip-hop to powerfully spiritual prayers. Ro ignites the emotions at the heart of her listeners. Take off your shoes, loosen your hair and ride with the convertible top down. Get ready for flirtation and fun, contemplation and ecstasy.

Ro is in the process of recording songs for her introductory CD “From Primal to Divine” and independently releasing selected singles. She is establishing her record label Gen-Ray and making preparations for distribution. Ro is currently accepting special engagement bookings only.

This awakening sensation has had a passion for musical expression since birth. Her father, Tony talent for composing music, singing and directing performances kindled her fire. Her Aunt Sandy , an accomplished jazz singer in Canada, demonstrated her magnetic stage presence in Ro's early years. At age 8, Ro's first solo performance was singing "What the World Needs Now Is Love". She still feels that way.

Musically supported and encouraged by her mother, Vita , Ro continued actively performing through college. Afterwards, Ro promised herself to get back to her singing career . . . someday. Someday is now.

Then Ro met Shane Capone, another passionate performer committed to making and distributing his music. After the release of his second CD, “Heated Speech”, Shane was Ro’s inspiration. “If Shane can do it, so can I”. Soon after Shane introduced Ro to technical genius, Scott Sumner, she began laying tracks.

Ro makes a daily practice of her unique spirituality. Opinionated but not judgmental, ambitious but not greedy, discrete but not deceptive, Ro interacts in the institutions of society with foreign familiarity. She has explored a variety of religious paths including Catholic, Christian, New Age, Budhist and Neo-Pagan. Nothing fit. Ro finds common beliefs interwoven throughout many religions including love as salvation, connection to the whole and immortality of the soul. Frustrated with the apparent lack of spiritual practice today, Ro cries out for humanity to unite through her songs.

I searched and searched to work with others to satisfy my need to spirtually express myself through song.  I couldn't find anyone locally with a philosophy close to mine that had a group of musicians entertaining the crowds.  After I began to record my own music, I found like minded people and groups (amazing how that happens, huh?).  I will be adding to this list so if you know of other cool links with a similar idea about the Oneness of All, email tude vox Ro.
