a time to cry . . .

Grief is primal. Grief is real. Grief is healthy but hard to feel.
Mourning loss may take some time but only Love can help us heal.

Introducing “Our Good-Byes”, in memory of Toni Russo, my Great Aunt and surrogate grandma.

Grief and mourning are defining characteristics of humanity. Scientists dig up pre-historic relics that indicate ritual burial ceremonies to bury the dead. Grief is ingrained in our DNA . . . but we don’t like to feel it.

Ironically, we as “civilized people” often demonstrate grief and suffering for perceived loss as well as physical death. We lament about everything from the traffic jam to the client who wants to “wait a while”, swing over to the stock market crash and land upside down with a pink slip. These perceived losses are really Life forcing us to slow down, regroup, reality check and move forward. When we don’t listen to Life, we get stress:  a slow, painful death. Now that is sad.

Grief is healthy when it helps us move past loss and grow.
